The extensive furniture collection of the Vitra Design Museum consisting mainly of chairs, but also including lamps and many other types of interior furnishings, provides the primary basis for its activities. In this exhibition titled “One Hundred Years - One Hundred Chairs”, all of the important stylistic eras of industrial furniture design are represented from the beginning of industrial mass production to Functionalist designs, to the Postmodern furniture objects of the 1980s and contemporary designs.
