media_city seoul 2000 was the first major international media art biennale specifically focused on cutting edge high tech mediums used in art. The second biennale held in 2002 presented 35 Korean artists and 42 international artists who all explore the convergence of technology and the contemporary arts. Together, these artists exhibited the latest worldwide trends in art. As co-organizer for media_city seoul 2002, Laurence Geoffrey's Ltd. was primarily responsible for coordinating the international participants.
The 2002 biennale was put together under the main theme of “Luna's Flow”, which offered both participants and visitors alike the opportunity to journey into virtual space beginning with intellectual speculation regarding our new perceptions and relationship with the moon in contrast to those held from ancient times. The aesthetic direction focused on the search for the sublime that can be found in cyber space, a place of inscrutable mystery filled with unlimited aesthetic potential. |
