Art Canal is a project initiated, funded and organized by the Swiss Art Canal Association located in Biel, Switzerland. The first project took place in 2002 and 56 Swiss artists created a site specific work on the Zihl Canal. Due to the great publicity success and positive reaction from the public for this type public art, the second project was created.

This time to promote international artists as well as promote the project abroad, a new concept was developed. Art Canal 2006 is made up for 45 artists. 15 artists each from Switzerland, Korea and Germany. After the opening and exhibition in Switzerland, the works moved to Korea and then will be exhibited in Germany in 2007.
